When I heard of Police Chief Thomas Achord’s resignation, I was set aback and had to take a pause and reflect. I truly appreciate what our police department has become since 2014, a remarkable local police force that cares about the community. I was and am still proud of these officers that protected our community and it was the result of a good leader.
Thomas Achord is a person that values people and understands the complexity of today’s society. I will miss him at the Eureka Springs Police station and I hope that Mayor Butch Berry will be able to find another police chief that will continue to make the department an example to other cities with its hospitality and the protection it provides this community.
