Well… this is awkward

Welcome one and all to your weekly Entertainment section that has gotten very tiny with the threat of Coronavirus hanging over our heads. As of print date, the Cathouse has fully shut their doors for at least two weeks. Chelsea’s, Brews, and Gravel Bar are still open. Gravel Bar is implementing a policy to only allow 10 people inside at a time so keep that in mind. Eureka Live, Grand Taverne, Legends Saloon, and Missy’s White Rabbit Lounge are business as usual as far as I know. I’ll keep you Eureka Springs Nightlifers in the know should that change.

For those of you who are looking to self-quarantine or are avoiding society for a week or two how about I hit you up on some good musicians and groups that have played in town? One of my favorites is Ashtyn Barbaree, a fantastic folk artist from Fayetteville and who has toured in Europe as well as played at Folk Alliance International in Montreal, Quebec. Her music is like smooth coffee to the ears and will bring a smile to your lips

Going to the alternative side with Paper Anthem who played at Alt at the Aud last May. They describe themselves as an emotive indie rock band and I can’t argue with that distinction. Each song is easy on the ears with the piano being the focal point of each song. My favorite by the way would have to be Aquatic from the album To All the Sailors We’ve Lost. I’m a sucker for heavy piano in an emotional piece.

Finally, let’s get some rock going shall we? Ben Miller Band have played a few times in Eureka Springs and oh boy do they know how to rock. They’ve got a great folk rock sound that will make you want to dance in front of the kitchen sink while you do your dishes.

Okay, I think I’ve nearly made up for the short schedule by taking a lot of liberty with my word limit. I’ll have more music for you to listen to next week as life under “social distancing” continues. In the meantime enjoy this photo of the last eggs at the Cassville grocer from last week. The photo was taken by our graphic de(sigh)ner who wishes to not be named.
