Vol Brashears, Jr., of Berryville, Ark., was born January 4, 1923, in Poteau, Okla., son of Vol Brashears, Sr., and Ida Nell (Amos). He passed away May 15, 2019, in Fayetteville, Ark, at age 96. Vol lived a full, active and independent life up until his sudden death.

Vol grew up in Berryville, Ark. On August 22, 1945, he was united in marriage with Helen Virginia (Baker) Brashears who preceded him in death.

Vol was a family man – he is survived by his three sons, Vol Brashears, III, Kent Brashears and Doug Brashears and wife, Susan, and his nieces and nephews.

Vol served as a pilot in World War II and then later worked in the Pentagon. He and Helen returned to Berryville in 1977 to help his parents with the family business, Brashears Furniture. Vol loved almost everything about the furniture business, including the many employees and customers he worked with over the years.

His positive outlook and his life were an inspiration.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Berryville and was also a 50 year member of the Ashley Masonic Lodge #66.
