Kahlil Gibran wrote, “Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky. We fell them down and turn them into paper, that we may record our emptiness.”

Bill Gates said that relying on trees to solve climate change is “complete nonsense.”

Either way, we know that leafy trees shade us and provide a windbreak. We feel the vibe when we throw our arms around a pine tree. We know that trees are Earth’s lungs. We know that trees smell good and provide bird condos. We know that in 1982, Eureka Springs was the first city in Arkansas to be designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Trees have been on the cutting board for ages. Trees are cleaved to make shelter and cardboard, provide cows with pastureland, save the roof or expand the view.

But, this just in – 1,836 out of 3,119 counties in this country are undergoing a tree resurgence due to county governments being more protective of trees that combat soil erosion, cool concrete roads and sidewalks, and soothe troubled minds. If you can’t plant one, hug one.
