Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. will come to the stage at the Eureka Springs High School Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14. This 75-minute musical, designed for middle-school performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The ESMS Onstage cast includes approximately 34 students, led by Donesa Mann and Jennifer Hatch.

“This fifth and sixth grade choir has been preparing for the production since January,” Mann said. “The students want the community to come see and hear what they enjoy so much, musical theater.”

This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show.

The Little Mermaid Jr. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea. A beautiful young mermaid named Ariel, played by Abi Killion and Madison Partee, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea (Riley Chapman and Kolton Smith), escape the clutches of an evil sea witch (Janelle Anderson and Peyton Gordon), and convince a prince (Cesar Estrada) that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. With the help of her sea friends, played by William Linker, Amber Kirk, Trew Freeman, Ilima Beattie, Finn Van Sickle, and Anastasia Cummings, Ariel’s dream just may come true.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Eureka Springs students will be admitted free, and tickets are available at the door. Patrons who come for the Monday performance can come back on Tuesday night for free. More information is available from Mann at (479) 253-8704.
