Supremes say No to appeal

In a 5-2 ruling today, the Arkansas Supreme Court voted to not reconsider its decision to disqualify Issue 7, the 2016 Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act, from the ballot because of alleged irregularities with gathering signatures. Arkansans for Compassionate Care had filed an appeal Oct. 27, asking the Court to consider the constitutionality of finding fault with one signature on a page and tossing out the whole page, which could have ten legitimate signatures.

The decision bars the state from counting votes on Issue 7. That leaves only Issue 6, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, with the potential for allowing people in Arkansas access to the same type of medication now legal in half the country.
