Show time! Willo Mancifoot the Musical premieres this weekend

369

This children’s musical will debut at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, and a matinee performance will follow on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Cast members attended an early round of rehearsals last fall, and returned to a rigorous schedule in March. They skipped through several rehearsal venues, and the last few practices moved to The Aud. The kids finally had the opportunity to perform with the spectacular sets, which help them bring to life a world of dragonflies, crickets, and Light Wings.

The play features colorful costumes, computerized lighting effects, and song and dance to help keep the attention of young audiences.

More than 30 years ago, Valerie Hubbard Damon wrote the book which grew into this musical. In Eureka Springs, she found the perfect artistic climate to fulfill the dream of seeing her book staged as a musical. In addition to her play’s premiere, Valerie will also preside over the Artrageous Parade as Grand Marshal at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
