Selfies with Big Foot at Leatherwood

Multi-media artist Stephen Feilbach had sent Parks commissioners a rendering of his seven-foot tall Big Foot sculpture that he proposed to install at Lake Leatherwood City Park. Feilbach claimed it would become a photo opportunity for visitors who would then post the photos on social media for free advertising for Eureka Springs. At some point, he could exchange Big Foot for another sculpture. Feilbach said he just wanted the sculpture to have an impact.

Commissioner Christian Super suggested Big Foot might fit well with the proposed Art Walk at Harmon Park. Parks ED Justin Huss said he had that thought as well, as there is momentum for more art in Harmon Park. However, he said another spot could be at the shuttle turnaround in LLCP. It would be offset in the woods a bit but visible to bikers waiting for a ride back up the hill. He plans to create a sitting area with picnic tables in that vicinity.

Chair Bill Featherstone said both Feilbach and the city would get publicity out of the sculpture. Vote to move forward on installing Big Foot as Huss suggested was unanimous.
