Quorum Court sprints through agenda

The Carroll County Quorum Court quickly took care of business Monday evening with Justices of the Peace approving three items:

  • a supplemental appropriation ordinance transferring $70,037 to pay for repairs to the Eastern District courthouse
  • an ordinance appropriating $44,000 received from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program to be used toward improvement of the Carroll County Historic Courthouse
  • an appropriation ordinance reallocating $14,538 from contract labor line item in the Assessor’s budget toward paying for a full-time employee

JP Noreen Watson pulled a fourth item regarding amendments to the Personnel Handbook related to longevity payments. She said an updated ordinance wwouldill be presented at the August 21 meeting.

Jump starting ECCAD

JP Lamont Richie told the court it would be advisable for as many JPs as possible to attend the next meeting of the Eastern Carroll County Ambulance District on Tuesday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at the courthouse in Berryville. JP Don McNeely said he attended the most recent meeting, and commented that commissioners are still establishing their process, but JP Chuck Olson stated the process of setting up the district seems to be going slowly.

Next meeting will be Monday, August 21, at 5 p.m.
