Proper bombing

Editor,

Ordinarily, I am opposed to any form of warfare; however, the Syrian president, educated in the U.S., uses chemicals against his own people. According to U.N. statistics, he has killed over 500,000 Syrians, in various ugly ways, in his campaign to retain power.

The problem with this bombing of supposed chemical factories, according to our own military experts, is that they can be rebuilt in a very short time. The first U.S. bombing in Syria was of an airfield that was rebuilt within a week.

If the U.S., France and Britain really want to put Syria’s chemical warfare out of business, they must:

  1. Ascertain where every component of chemical production is located
  2. Carry out specific, long term, surgical bombings of each facility
  3. Trump should not announce his intentions beforehand
  4. Make sure that civilians are protected as much as possible

Some analysts in America say that Trump’s lauding his bombing is really just a diversion from the closing net Mueller has cast over the president’s corruption. I say, if the coalition is going to bomb Syria’s chemical factories, do it right.

Assad is a tyrant who will do anything to his people to stay in power, just like his father who was also a tyrant. We must use every weapon in our economic arsenal to diminish his hold over Syria.
