Please accept money

A couple of days ago my wife and I were going to enjoy a meal at a downtown restaurant, the same we have so many times. There were no parking meter spaces available, so we headed to a parking lot just south of the bank. We pulled into a space and went to put money in a pay box. 

Instead, we find a sign explaining that paying was by an application on a smart phone or call some number. I do not own a smart phone, even if I did, I would not want to use it for financial transactions. It seemed to me to be an inconvenience to have to call someone to make arrangements to use legal tender to pay for a parking space. So, we got back in our vehicle, left downtown and drove away to a restaurant out of downtown. 

As a longtime visitor to Eureka from the surrounding area I guess real money is no longer welcome. It seems to me some option such as a pay box should be provided. 

I guess we will no longer be visiting downtown stores and eating at downtown restaurants.
