Gerry Fonseca made a poster to protest removal of about 15 large pines trees at the corner of Onyx Cave Rd. and US 62 to prepare for commercial development. Fonseca said the pine trees were as large as those at the nearby cemetery, some of which have been estimated to be more than 100 years old. “This is just another ugly nail in the coffin of Eureka Springs,” Fonseca said. “It is corporate disregard for beauty. Couldn’t they have at least left a few trees on the edges of the property?” The tree cut was outside city limits.
