For festival lovers, the winter can bring a longing for crowds, live music and good times that the Basin Park Hotel seeks to fill with the annual OzMoMuFest. An indoor festival that fuses Bluegrass, Folk and Roots, the line-up features local and national acts that are bringing their strings to pluck you to ecstasy. Headliners this year are The Hogslop String Band from Nashville-an extreme high energy sound that is based on old time music while pushing the boundries of genre-bending. Hear them Friday at 10:30 p.m.
The Saturday headliner, up on stage at 10 p.m., is a group from Montana with a sound dubbed Galaxy Grass by fans. The Kitchen Dwellers have toured extensively, including all the big outdoor festivals, and released two albums since forming at Montana State. The fast-picking high energy of these guys will put a smile on your face and a tappin’ in your toes.
Chelsea’s Corner Cafe & Bar, supportive of all things local, also has good strings booked for the weekend and is hosting an after hours jam at midnight on Friday and Saturday led by Grassfed, one of Kansas City’s best bluegrass outfits.
