The more than 100-year-old former Oakwood Boarding House on Singleton was demolished last Saturday after the Historic District Commission voted Jan. 4 that the building was beyond repair. Although the HDC was saddened to lose the old structure, it had become a health and safety hazard due to extensive damage from neglect. The building was cleared by Rocking W Excavating in Berryville.
