Editor,

Thank you to everyone who attended the Community Summit on October 3 at the Aud. And a special thanks to presenters Katherine Andrews, Arkansas Department of Outdoor Recreation, Scott Miskiel, Executive Director-Eureka Springs Parks and Recreation, Kent Turner, Chair-Community Development Corporation of Eureka Springs, Madison Dawson, Executive Director-CAPC and Sandy Royce Martin, Chair-Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Development.

There was a lot of new information shared with an emphasis on outdoor recreation potential for Eureka Springs. Katherine Andrews is extremely supportive and willing to help us grow that sector of our tourism and retail economy.

“Eureka Springs and Carroll County have an abundance of outdoor recreation assets. With Lake Leatherwood, proximity to Beaver Lake, Table Rock Lake and the Kings and White Rivers, the Leatherwood Trails, the Great Passion Play Trails, and multiple parks, campgrounds, and outdoor attractions, Eureka Springs is a prime location for outdoor recreation enthusiasts to come play and to relocate,” Andrews said.

Katherine is a wealth of information and a great resource for anyone wanting to get into or expand outdoor recreation opportunities for our community. Contact her at Katherine.Andrews@arkansas.gov.

We handed out flash drives containing all the presentation – the new Eureka Springs Market and Resource Guide, affordable housing resources, as well as other information and resources. If you are interested in getting one of the flash drives, please contact city hall.
