One fun night of fundraising in April is set to provide dinner, dancing, perhaps some “games” for prizes, and an all-around enjoyable evening out that won’t break the bank. The best part is that others in the county will benefit, as all money raised from the event is put back into the community.
The 2nd Annual Spring Dinner Dance from 6 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, spearheads the First Christian Church Outreach Committee’s 2026 drive to raise funds for local charities. Planning for the event has been going on since January.
“It’s a big committee,” member Evelyn Eidson said. “We have just as much fun planning as the people who attend will enjoy the event. It kind of draws us together as family to see how we can help provide for local charities.”
The dinner dance idea may have come from nostalgia for the dinner and supper clubs that proliferated on into the 1960s, especially in the upper Midwest.
“There aren’t dinner and supper clubs like there once were, but we can still share the experience of good food, good music, good friends and a good time,” Eidson said, “especially knowing that someone else down the line will have a good or better day because of it.”
Charities that benefit from FCC events throughout the year include school coat drives, Shop with a Cop, Cup of Love, Grandma’s House, the Purple House, Angel Tree and other local charities. But the point is mainly that the public is invited to come, have a good time, and connect with friends and neighbors in a friendly environment.
The Spring Dinner Dance is just the place to do that. The evening begins with appetizers and a served dinner, followed by dancing to big band music via DJ (requests welcome) and a couple of surprises. It’s a perfect date night, get-the-gang-together night or a solo night to meet up with friends or make new ones.
The menu of delicious homemade dishes offers an entree choice of honey roasted chicken breast or roasted pork tenderloin and a dessert choice of peach or strawberry shortcake. The meal includes a salad bar and is served with scalloped potatoes, vegetable and rolls by your smiling waitstaff, members of the Outreach Committee.
The cost is $20 per person, and reservations are required by April 11. Contact Reta (870) 480-7738 to reserve a spot and register your choice of entree and dessert.
The event will be held in the lower level off the rear parking lot at First Christian Church, 763 Passion Play Road, in Eureka Springs.
