I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, I know we did. Full of love and laughter and even some fish for the holidays.

I took out some repeats on 12-24-21, Christmas Eve. Scott Hoffpauer from Ardmore, Texas, has been out with me several times throughout the years. And it always seems to be a great time and great company catching up on old times.

This time he brought out his daughter Bailey, 27, from Colorado and son, Thomas, from Texas, staying at Spider Creek Resort. Bailey had never fished before, and Thomas was somewhat experienced at age 19.

We had great weather and a great trip and great time, catching all the fish we needed towards the end of the day. In the beginning we started out trolling for walleye or bigger trout because on a previous trip we were able to pick up a nice 31-in. walleye at this same time of the year… we had fished, hoping and wishing to do a repeat. But no luck on that…

So, we loaded the boat with trout one after another. Nice haul for the day. Bailey got her first fish coming in at 17 inches, a Rainbow. What a way to start out. Bailey challenged me on bringing a banana on the boat, even though I have a point-blank sticker on my boat that says…  NO Bananas on the boat. BAD LUCK. But not for her… she proved me wrong. She had a great day of fishing as did all in the boat.

Richard Lee Rusher got to take out some folks who had fished with me on their honeymoon 9 years ago on New Year’s Day. They said it was snowing 9 years ago and we caught plenty. They did well this year also but with warmer weather and some rain, real troopers. They are coming back in spring to hit some walleye with us. Great start to the year.

I’m still hearing great crappie reports. Also seeing so good striper pictures. So, because of the warm weather fishing has been really good. This cold spell will push some fish back, but trout and stripers are still going to be active.  Let’s get out there and fish and make some memories.

Look us on Facebook at Custom Adventures Guide Service for more pictures and videos or give us a call for your adventure (479) 363-9632. We also do sightseeing tours for a kicked back ride on the river taking in nature and wildlife. We are seeing a lot of eagles this time of the year. Remember those kiddos and take a kid fishing.
