Monday and Tuesday of this week are not looking too promising on the weather, but man oh man Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have my name written all over them. I cannot wait to go out and explore some of my favorite places. My only problem is there are too many wonderful places in our sweet little area to go.

After looking at this picture of Zack Haines, I might have to follow in his footsteps. He hauled in this 25-in. Brown trout caught on a 5x tippet, using a pink egg pattern, on the White River. The fish was let go to fight another day.

Zack has a bit of an advantage in having his own guide service. Zack takes people out fly fishing either by boat and/or wading. For booking and inquiries, give him a call at (918) 609-2130 or look him up on Instagram @ Checkered Flag Guides & Outfitters.

But then, if I have my fly rod in hand, I crave some smallmouth bass action, so off to the Kings River I must go. With cooler temperatures coming, the smallmouths are not going to be as active. But the warmer days popping up in between has kept them aggressive. The most effective flies have been a tan and brown Clouser minnow or white Wooly Bugger with a red wrap on the neck.

From what I have been told by my crappie fishing friends is that the bite has been good on Beaver Lake. The bigger slabs are starting to move into the brush and small jigs and minnows are working very well.

So, what is a gal to do?

All I know is, if you need someone to take you out on an adventure, be it fishing or just sightseeing on the beautiful White River or Beaver Lake look us up on Facebook or give us a call at Custom Adventures Guide Service (479) 363-9632, we will make sure to fix you up with the right guide for your needs.

Take a kid fishing. As a reminder, we are making out gift certificates for Christmas presents.
