I hope everybody had a wonderful week with this wonderful weather. You can’t ask for any better. The fish like these temperatures and have become pretty active.
My last two weeks of being on the White River have been very productive. Trout are jumping in the boat. On the White River they haven’t been generating as much as in the past, so wade fishing in the pockets in the first four miles is really good.
If you’re in a boat you want to put in it, Houseman Access and find the deep holes. We’ve been just using power bait, white and sunrise in color, plus a wax worm, sometimes nightcrawler injected with air, so it was stay afloat off the bottom with the Carolina rig with a leader about 18 inches long.
On Sunday I went fishing with good friends Jeannie Kelsey her son, Dave Gatlin, and Holly the dog. I love when I get in the boat with people who boast and rev up the other people they’re the best. Jeannie was bragging and flaunting because she caught 20 of the 28 that we put in the boat. At one time every cast she would make she was catching fish.. We had a lot that would come in as doubles, two at a time. Like the picture that was her biggest one coming in at 16 1/2 inches.
Both of them know how to net a fish. And they kept me busy. I’m hoping to go with them next week again. They haven’t been generating in the river this last week very much but you can check your generation schedule at Swpa.gov
I do have to admit that we were using a secret weapon that I talked about last week. I think I’m a true believer in it now for any fish. It’s the Pautzke Fire Gel Bait. We used trout scent and shrimp scent.
