Session 2 of Riverman 2023 school is in the books. I’m not sure if the volunteers or the kids had more fun at this event last weekend. I do know that smiles were had by all.

Each year Doug Allen holds a kids Kings River educational learning session, and last year was so successful that he this year he added an extra day. Usually, it’s two Saturdays out of the year in June, this year it’s three weekends, and next weekend he’ll hold the third one.

Look Doug RM Allen up on Facebook for more information and great photos of sessions 1 and 2 of his classes.

Know what Sunday is? Father’s Day!

A great place to take Dad fishing is on the White River these days. The water has been low in the mornings because they have turned off the floodgates at this point. Which makes for excellent wade fishing and bank fishing. Power bait in colors yellow and white have been effective. Nightcrawlers, injected with air to keep afloat and off the bottom is the still the best.

As far as fly fishing goes, on the White River you can’t go wrong with these hot flies – sowbugs, various colored San Juan worms, and white mop flies. Small orange or peach eggs have been very good, as well.

With warmer temperatures, the smallmouths are more active now, so the Kings River would be another good option this weekend.
