Hello everyone, hope you had a great week in the outdoors. It’s great when you’re out in the woods or on the water. The rain was much needed, and the perfect time to fish is right before the front hits. My husband is a big believer in the barometric measure when fishing.

Fishing has always been an important human activity as a way to provide food for the family and, in more recent times, for recreation. Nowadays, as well as in ancient times, fishermen have remained persistent in this activity.

It’s funny how a picture of a big fish will get more attention than Facebook and Instagram views and more likes than most other types of posts… even among non-anglers.

There is something very primal in catching fish. Fishing has always been in close connection with weather conditions. The question: how weather conditions, and more specifically how barometric pressure affects fishing, has become a cornerstone of a sort of science, or more precisely – a field of interest with many people. Something to research for sure.

There is definitely a sense of pride and connection with nature when you put fish or deer, actually any wildlife, on the table for a family dinner, in my opinion. Back in the day it was a way of life and fun.

I remember when Granddad and Grandma would go out early and hunt and bring back the meal for the day, whatever season it happened to be. Then Grandma would not head out on the trips and I asked her why. She told me, “I’m tired of going on the hunt, coming home and cleaning the kill, then when they think it`s cleaned and bring it in kitchen, I clean it again, and cut it into portions… then guess what I get to do? Cook it up and serve it up and then clean all that up.”

Hard work. And a way of life back then… this picture made me think of these times.
