Having Reel Fun

Hello there. It’s time for your fishing report for this week. Seems like all guides are booking it up these last few weeks. Fish of all types have been hot.

On Beaver Tailwater, the beautiful White River, she is still high but us folks with a boat are loving it. We are floating night crawlers injected with air to keep them off the bottom. Trolling flicker shads, colors in red/gold, also any natural shad pattern size 7. Heavy spoons and jigs are doing good, also.

Fishing is good from the dam all the way down to Hwy. 62 bridge. If you are able find some bank space try using night crawlers, power baits in yellow, pink and white with a little tip of night crawler or a good ole wax worm.

The bank fishermen that I have been seeing doing the best are fortunate enough to have waders, or some just brave the 47-52° water, they walk out as far as the can go and make the cast then start letting line out and get back to their spot on the bank. So just because the water is high don’t let that keep you from getting out there. Just take in the beauty of the river, some nature and always touch the water.

On Beaver Lake, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 1,128.51 ft. (Normal conservation pool: 1,121.00 ft.) Beaver is coming down slowly. Water temps in the lower 80s.

Stripers’ reports are still very good. Fish are moving toward the clear water end of the lake. Walleye are being caught with worm harnesses and trolling crank baits. Bass are early and late hitting on top, and going deeper as the day gets warmer.

The picture for this week is of Jesse and Sabrina Brown who stayed with Sugar Ridge Resort. I had the privilege to take them out on the water for two days in a row. They went out on a sightseeing tour the day before. We put in at Houseman Access and motored our way down to Beavertown to check on the one lane bridge. You could see where water had lowered there somewhat. We barely were able to pass the old bridge.

Got some great pictures that day. The next day out fishing, started below the dam and fishing was good. We caught several in the slot limit that had to be released. We managed to end up with this nice stringer. Looking forward to the next trip out with them.

So, give us a call for your sightseeing tour or fishing trip. See more pictures on our facebook page. And as always, take a kid fishing. Custom Adventures Guide Service (479) 244-5259
