Halloween candy weighs in at 450

Editor,

The White Street Halloween Candy Bank is officially closed for another year, and the generosity this year was astounding! Donations totaled over 450 pounds of candy, which is 150 pounds over last year’s total!

In addition to that, there were large amounts of toys donated that were a huge hit. If the weather had been better we would have had exactly enough candy, but due to fewer kids braving the rain and fewer neighbors participating in the doling-out process, we have 150 pounds of candy left over. It will not go to waste – we will be passing it on to local charities to throw from their floats in the upcoming Christmas parade.

Our biggest thanks to our neighbors all over town for supporting the bank’s efforts to make sure everybody gets to play, and to the kids of all ages that proved a little bad weather cannot dampen their spirit. See you again next year!
