Going native

Editor,

Thank you for all the advance PR for our event. What fun we had on Saturday! The “growing” (enthusiasm for native plants and their impact on our birds, bees and butterflies was on full display during the 2nd Annual Native Fair.

Despite a cold and rainy day, the parking lot at the ES Community Center was packed! People were leaving with armfuls of native plants, t-shirts, note cards and gardening books.

Cody George, Lead Horticulturalist of Crystal Bridges, gave a informative talk that opened many eyes to the fun and beauty of adding native plants to our landscapes.

We could not have had such a great event without our knowledgeable plant vendors, Kat Luna of the ESCC, volunteers of The Native Plant Garden Project & NWA Master Naturalists, Nancy G with her Monarchs, Glenda Moore’s exhibit on removing invasive plants, Mariellen Griffith with nature inspired art and garden books, and countless folks who protect our natural habitats. I wish we had space to list you all by name.

See y’all at the next event.
