Goddesses made me feel good

Editor,

I’m sending you a journal entry I made this week – verbatim – because when I write a letter the editor I’m usually mad about something, and I think that’s wrong. The world is already filled with negativity.

April 13, 2018. I’ve had an up-and-down week, me and my shingles. Felt good Monday and Tuesday but have been hurting the rest of the week.

The Goddess Gala was Tuesday night. I didn’t stay long but I’m so glad I didn’t miss it. It’s a weird event, but somehow both a spiritual renewal for me and also a reminder of why I love Eureka Springs so much.

Not the quasi-pagan, Wicca, goddess mumbo jumbo – that’s just for window dressing – but the setting aside of a time for all sorts of weird, wacky females to come together and celebrate womanhood and our connection to the earth and to the environment that nourishes and supports us all.

My particular posse was all there. All so different and all wonderful! Ranging in age from Lilli, who is 3, to me (I think I’m the oldest) at 67. Also, it’s a potluck, so the food is fabulous!

This letter is a thank you to the people who organize this every year. To any goddesses who haven’t tried it yet, plan to attend next year. It probably won’t change your life, but it will make you feel good for a while.
