Freedom of expression is central

Editor,

Since our election was stolen by the Russians, since my Arkansas vote did not count for anything, since Cheetollini has already been proven to be a compulsive liar with money ties to Russia, since he never offers any proof of what he alleges happens, since all of Cheetollini’s cabinet appointees are billionaires not interested in anything but dismantling legislation that protects the environment and our lives, and since the president seems to be a mentally challenged individual, I cannot for the life of me see how Wolf’s cartoon [March 1] was unpatriotic.

I am attending a class at the Eureka UU on the Constitution taught by Rabbi Rob. I learned how democratic, thoughtful and knowledgeable our Founding Fathers were (albeit, unfortunately, many still slaveholders). I wonder if the president has ever read the Constitution. He seems to be obsessed with conspiracy theories, making even more money with his Russian connections, and flying down to his lavish home in Florida every weekend.

Many of us in Eureka are capable of thinking for ourselves. You need not apologize to us. We appreciate you and your courage. We know that freedom of speech and freedom of the press are essential to a democracy.

Russia does not allow any viewpoint other than Putin’s. Politicians who oppose him and journalists who tell the truth are murdered.

I am glad we are not governed by Russia’s fascism.
