I would like to praise Eureka Springs Hospital for their outstanding emergency abilities in a critical situation.
On Saturday, April 26, at approximately 9 p.m., my husband was taken to the hospital by the Eureka Springs ambulance service. The two EMTs were exceptional. They were remarkable in the way they handled my husband who was not able to breathe due to bilateral pneumonia. Holiday Island First Responder Phil Kimball first arrived at our home and placed an oxygen mask on my husband to help him breathe, and was able to control his breathing and anxiousness.
It should be noted that my husband had been turned away by three larger hospital facilities in NW Arkansas the week prior, saying they couldn’t “justify” admitting him into their hospital.
April 26, after he was placed in a room at Eureka Springs Hospital, RN Bobbie Carbanero and nurse Justin Gibbs collaborated and were able to get my husband breathing, more comfortable, and stabilized. These two nurses worked diligently together and treated my husband with great care and dignity.
My family and I were so relieved that we were finally getting some help – we all felt like family.
The doctor and nurses all recognized that my husband was critical and worked to get him to a larger facility in Rogers, Springfield, Ft. Smith; and were finally able to get Washington Regional to accept him. Another ambulance was called to transport him to Fayetteville.
It is with profound sadness and emotion to say my husband was at Washington Regional for two weeks and passed away May 10. It should be said, my husband had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatments as well bilateral pneumonia.
It is with heartfelt appreciation and gratitude that I would like to ask that these employees be commended for their superb work ethic and professional excellence.
