Dropping a Line

Well, the weather sure pulled one over on us last week. Had only two fishing trips scheduled and both decided to choose another date down the road, so I got you another cartoon.

One good thing about having this cold front is it gave us more time to enjoy the striped and white bass spawns. Both are still wanting to run upstream, and neither lake has hit 58° yet. This last rain was not enough to dirty the water, so the further you go up a creek or river now the cleaner it will get and you should find more fish.

We should be hitting the 60s in a couple weeks, and with that we will also have the crappie on the shoreline brush also spawning. If you have no boat you might just catch some walking the shoreline this time of year.

Lake Leatherwood runs a little bit cooler since it is spring fed, but as May gets closer so will the crappie to the shoreline. It’s still free fishing there with a trail that goes all around and has had crappie, bass, catfish, bluegill and red ear in it since back before Table Rock or Beaver Lake were created, so it’s well worth a try.

Well, I better get my chores done. Enjoy these good days and stay warm on the one or two cold ones coming our way. It’s about over. Finally.
