Dropping a Line

715

As the sun sets over the water, so will I. I am writing this farewell report with tears in my eyes.

I am not on the water as much as when this started about 8 years ago. I want to thank you all who have followed me over the years. I do hope the paper keeps Dropping a Line going, for I have put a lot of thought into who could take my place and she is known by many. In fact, she has been on these waters longer than I.

My health and age are telling me I should not guide at this time. I will get back on the water soon for my own peace I find on it.

We still have dreams and when we believe it is safe, Dogwood Corner Market Place will open. It will be a place for all to shop with tackle down below and a guide service that can find you someone to get you out for all that these waters offer.

I do hope I have helped others also enjoy that peace and pass it on to the children in this world, for it is a safe place to escape and forget about all of your worries. It can give a child memories that will last a lifetime. A grandfather’s last voyage with the ones he loves. A falling star on a summer night when it feels like your all alone and it is all made just for you. I have said goodbye to my Mother, Father, wife and daughter here. It all started with 1 boy and 1 big fish. It is all about memories. For you alone or for a memory you give another.

I am so happy to live here and not in the city. I will be here till I die. If you see me on the water say hi. If I’m not catching, maybe share with me where you caught yours, as I have with you over these years.

So, the fish are biting, the sun has brought many to the shoreline. Grab a kid and some worms and hit the shoreline where you can. If you’re chasing those stripers on Beaver lake, they’re moving back our way. When it’s warm enough to swim, then it’s time to put in at the dam and go no further than Point 6.

Top water will still catch, but as the sun gets high, get below the thermoclime which runs about 28 feet deep. Good luck my friends. If I helped you with a memory, pass it on.
