Dropping a Line

Was a chilly day but Josh Parsons from Overland Park, Kan., enjoyed a 3-day stay in Beavertown with the wife and kids. As she relaxed in the cabin, he enjoyed some time with the kids Edie and Graham Parsons here at the Island. We had a great day catching some big white bass trolling flicker shad in the creeks, then let the kids play with floats and minnows in the back when we hit 8-foot water where Graham caught his big crappie.

The spring rains are filling the creeks with flowing warmer water which is what walleye, whites and stripers need to spawn, so look for walleye mixed in with the trout with a few whites up towards the Beaver tailwaters, or just go up a creek and you will find fish.

I would like to finish this report on where my heart stands on our little town and the change that is hurting us all. I have lived here more then 40 years with the first 20 working in the restaurant and motel part of it with a wife that was born here. It’s time for us all to come together to hold our little town together. Keep our doors open. Meet your customers on the sidewalk if you have to before you lay off your employees or just give up.

We need to hope and keep our dreams, but we never give up. We have some very smart people with a lot invested in our community. Let’s seek their wisdom, let’s come together, let’s keep our little town safe but as always, a happy place to provide smiles and good memories. We can do it Eureka.

Enjoy Spring Break, enjoy our Ozarks and take a kid fishing.
