Dropping a Line

Norman Bunch from Lola, Kansas, with a couple of nice Beaver Lake stripers we hooked into in the mid-lake region near the Hwy. 12 bridge. The mud’s moving them up out of the main river arms into the cleaner water.

Some stripers have spawned and some have not. Look in the creek arms and on the main lake points and flats for both the white bass and stripers. Because they both spawn in the creeks with flowing water they will also lay their eggs on shallow shorelines with that little pea gravel.

This high water should give the crappie a good spawn this year with all that shoreline brush. They’re in it now but it’s everywhere, so you just have to keep moving with jigs and minnows until you find them.

Bass are being caught on top water one day then down around 12 feet the next.

Trout are being caught very well in the tailwaters as they are stocking more as the spring comes our way. That’s your best shoreline fishing now. Just get some power bait and worms and you should catch a few pretty easy now from the dam to Houseman Access. Parker Bottoms is always a hot spot.

Well I better get some rest, back on Beaver in the morning. Be safe out there for there’s a few logs floating around. Enjoy the Spring, I believe it has arrived. We are now doing our striped bass trips going out from Rocky Branch and Prairie Creek Parks and should be back launching from Beaver Dam in about 3 more weeks.

School will be out soon so book your summer trips in advance if wanting a certain day.
