Dropping a Line

Got a nice sunrise this week of the fog lifting over the dam on Beaver Lake. Water temps running around 64° on Beaver and Table Rock, so fish are on the move to shallower water. Look in the creek and river arms for crappie, perch and bass close to the shoreline and back as far as you can go.

In the main lake look for walleye and bass relating to the flats, points, and where the chunk rock turns into gravel. Stripers and shad on Beaver are on the move, too.

Stripers are still being caught in the dam area to Point 5, and we do have some residential fish that will stay on this end of the lake, but it’s a whole different picture on the graph in the mid-lake area near the Hwy. 12 bridge and up river now.

You don’t go far without seeing a big bait ball with more stripers moving in on them every day. If you look at the map of Beaver Lake you’ll see how the 12 Bridge area opens up as the last deep hole in the lake, so this will be where they winter out and start busting the top more.

They might go all the way to the back of Prairie, Coose and Ventris creeks or south of the bridge. Just keep your eyes on all – water, graph, GPS, birds and those rods.

Keep a topwater bait on one rod no matter what water you are fishing because all fish are enjoying this cool water.
