Dropping a Line

Boy, the water sure has warmed up fast this year. We went from 68° surface temp to 80° in fewer than 10 days. Looks like a good weekend coming for all to get wet.

Where we caught these fish four days ago on Beaver Lake is now in the past and the best striper fishing now is between Rocky Branch and Lost Bridge, or South Bend Park just across from Starkey’s Marina up here closer to the dam.

Pictured is the part of a bachelor party that made it to the boat – Sam Horsh from Wichita, Shane Koppes from Cheney, Kansas, and Luke Metentash from Oakhill, Kansas.

We still have fish that should of laid their eggs when the water temp was cooler but about all species still have a few left in them, so fish for the crappie and bass close to the shoreline. White bass are scattered all over, and the stripers in Beaver are still hitting the top and being caught in the shallows with live shade shiners with no weight and top water plugs.

Looks like the way we’re warming we’ll be putting weights back on and fishing about 30 ft. deep to get below the thermocline in that cooler water.

Well you better go for now, getting this in at the last minute. Enjoy this holiday weekend and please be courteous to your fellow boaters. Enjoy the shade and the water, for it is time for both. Oh yeah eat more fish, it’s good for you.
