Downtown lawlessness

Editor,

I went to the Post Office this week and it brought back memories. Remember Manny and Larry? They were the parking meter guys that kept a tight reign on Spring Street; the meters, handicapped spaces and loading zones. They are both dead now, but with their chalk stick they ruled. Somebody was keeping track.

Why don’t we have guys doing the same thing now? Locals are parking in front of the Post Office for hours at a time and why not? You have to know they are also in loading zones, etc. Manny and Larry used to talk with visitors, answer questions and tell them where to pay their tickets, too. When the cats away the mice will play!
