If there is a lost soul out there, they are almost assured to find Kim Hornyak – the ECHO thrift shop queen with the big heart.
How did you arrive in Eureka Springs?
On our way back from Little Rock to Oklahoma, we stopped in Eureka and decided to stay.
What’s something people might not know about you?
That I worked for Bill Clinton. I did all the catering in the restaurant at the Presidential Library.
If your pet could talk, what would it say to you?
Mommy, mommy, mommy – wake up. Feed me – clean my box – brush my hair. I have a very demanding cat.
Have you ever participated in a peaceful protest or demonstration?
In the late seventies we laid on the railway tracks to block the trains from bringing in nuclear material. I think I did it because I had a crush on Jackson Browne who organized the protest.
What was the weirdest or strangest job you ever had?
I worked in a spaghetti factory sorting and packing pasta.
Are you a morning person or night owl?
Both. I stay up late and get up early. I don’t really sleep all that much.
What 5 dinner guests, dead or alive would you invite to a dinner party?
My husband Ed, my brother Charlie, my late mom and dad and Jesus.

She’s got a great big open heart for everybody that comes into the store.
Delightful. Thanks, John. She makes going into ECHO extra special!
