Shira Fouste is an artist and bed & breakfast owner who is currently chair of the CAPC. Shira is running for a council seat in Ward 3 Position 2 against incumbent Harry Meyer in November.
- How did you arrive in Eureka Springs?
Growing up my mother brought us here and I have always loved it. My husband, Shawn, retired from the military and I jokingly said I wanted to own a B&B in Eureka Springs – and here we are.
- Did you always want to be an artist?
Not really because I really didn’t think I could. I’ve always been creative, but never thought it as a career choice. Moving to Eureka Springs has been inspirational, and connecting with other like-minded artists has been wonderful.
3. If your life were a song, what would it be?
The first thing that popped up was the song “Tomorrow” from the musical Annie. Without sounding too Pollyanna, I really wake up to the sunny side of life.
- Do you have any life regrets?
No, not really. I daydream a lot about the “what ifs” but have no regrets. I look at my life as a series of steppingstones that have gotten me here.
- Is there an artist you look up to or are inspired by?
There are so many artists I admire, but Botticelli is at the top of my list. I know one day I will see his works in person.
6 What six guests would you invite to your dinner party?
This might be a little sad, but my dear friend Laurie Forbes and her son, Zach, who was tragically killed in a car accident when he was 17 years old. I would love to see them together along with Michelle and Barack Obama and my daughter Leah, who would be so pissed if I didn’t invite her along with the Obamas.
