Becky Strainer Epp is a visual artist, jewelry maker and recent guest curator at Brews who lives in Eureka Springs with her husband, Erik.
How did you arrive in Eureka Springs?
I came here as a kid with my parents. Thirty years later I came through with my husband, and I had that same feeling as a kid. This place was special. We looked to find the perfect house. It took two years, but we finally found it.
Do you vote and how important are the mid-terms this November?
Of course I vote. Every mid-term is important. This next election will determine what happens to our democracy.
Are you vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or carnivore?
I guess carnivore, but honestly, we don’t eat a lot of meat – more fruits and vegetables. But I will have the occasional burger.
How do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
Hopefully still doing art, and being more confident in my work, and still living here in Eureka Springs.
If you had to describe your life in 1 song – what would that song be?
“Nova” by VNV Nation. It’s about personal transformation from sadness to a place that makes you feel whole. Overcoming obstacles and struggles and coming out shining on the other side. And that’s how Eureka has made me feel.
What six dinner guests (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party?
Definitely my MaMaw first, David Bowie, Edgar Allan Poe, Princess Diana, Stephen King and artist Lisa Frank.
