Steve Beacham is a longtime resident and ceramic artist who owned and operated Spring St. Pottery. He is currently the director and one of the forces behind the Museum of Eureka Springs Art. 

1. How did you arrive in Eureka Springs?

I came on vacation and didn’t leave.

  1. As the director of the Museum of Eureka Springs Art is there a piece of work you are most excited to have in the museum’s permanent collection?

There are so many pieces I love it’s hard to choose. My favorite is a Ken Addington portrait of Miriam McKinnie.

  1. Is there a specific news source where you get your news?

  1. I know you have seen a lot of Broadway musicals. Do you have a favorite?

Once on This Island. We saw it in 2018. It won the Tony Award for best musical revival.It was wonderful.
5. Where did you grow up and was it a happy childhood?   

Richardson, Texas till the 8th grade; Timbo, Arkansas through high school. It was challenging but helped make me who I am.

  1. If your pets could talk (he has three Chihuahuas) – what would it say about you?

That I am strict, kind and warm to sleep against.

What 6 people dead or alive would you invite for a dinner party? Barack and Michelle Obama, Tina Turner, King James of Bible fame, Katharine Hepburn, Abraham Lincoln.
