David Lee Bell, 73, of Berryville, Ark., passed away on April 6, 2026, in Fayetteville, Ark.. He was born on May 22, 1952, in Fort Smith, Ark., to James H. Bell and Gladys (Brewer) Bell.

David graduated from University of Arkansas with his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and then went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, earning a master’s degree in theology. A devoted member of his community, David was a member of First Christian Church where he faithfully served as music director for approximately 30 years. He was also a member of IOOF Lodge #82, the Lions Club, the Carroll County Photography Club, and the Arkansas Press Association. In addition, he volunteered his time with Loaves & Fishes, always seeking ways to give back.     

David was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sellick on May 17, 1975. Together, they shared a loving life and raised three children. He loved his family more than anything. David was known for his generous spirit and quiet acts of kindness, often helping those in need without seeking recognition.

David is survived by his son, Robert Bell, and wife, Elizabeth, of Fayetteville, son John David Bell of Berryville, and daughter Emily Bolton and husband, Scott, of Berryville, and sister-in-law, Candy Bell of Edmond, Okla.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, James McElyea Bell, Celie Anne Bolton, Rosemary Brinkley Bell, and Elizabeth Quinn Bolton, step-grandsons Thomas Vaught and Wyatt Vaught, niece and nephew Elizabeth Bell and Steven Bell of Edmond, Okla., and several other relatives and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Bell, parents, James and Gladys Bell, and one brother, James Patrick “JP” Bell.

A Celebration of Life service was held on April 18 at First Christian Church in Berryville. Memorial donations can be made in David’s honor to Loaves and Fishes Food Bank of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 149, Berryville, AR 72616 or First Christian Church P.O. Box 187, Berryville, AR 72616.
