Constables on Patrol

May 15

9 a.m. – Passerby noticed an individual lying in a parking lot with his hat over face. He told the constable he was waiting for the coffee shop to open.

11:42 a.m. – Resident near downtown reported someone stole a plant stand from his porch. Upon further investigation, the constable determined the owner of the plant stand had picked it up but neglected to tell the resident.

May 16

10:30 a.m. – Exterior light downtown was broken overnight.

12:32 p.m. – Concerned observer noticed a dog in a vehicle with windows up all the way. Animal Control found the vehicle was running and air-conditioning was on. Dog did not appear to be in distress.

1:51 p.m. – High school principal requested a constable because of an Internet threat involving a student. Constable determined the messages were harassing communications.

8:53 p.m. – Ex-girlfriend told ESPD her ex-boyfriend was on her roof, and he had not responded in awhile. Constable checked with the ex-boyfriend on the roof, and he was okay. No report necessary.

10:16 p.m. – Merchant reported three or four people had been sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot for more than a half hour. Constable checked it out. No report necessary.

May 17

12:56 a.m. – Traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving on a suspended license due to DWI, open container, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, public intoxication and speeding. One passenger was arrested for open container, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession. Two other passengers were arrested for minor in possession and open container.

10:14 a.m. – Individual reported someone took her wallet out of her vehicle and used her debit and credit cards already.

12:47 p.m. – Manager at a tourist lodging reported guests had taken several items from their room.

5:59 p.m. – ESPD was informed a child had been missing for 30 minutes near downtown. He had made his way to Main Street when he was discovered. He was okay, and got a ride home in a squad car.

10:51 p.m. – Concerned observer claimed a female in a pink tank top was breaking into an apartment in the western part of town. Constable responded and learned the person had not been breaking in, and in fact had been welcomed into the apartment.

May 18

6:47 p.m. – A dog set off an alarm at a location on Main Street.

7:39 p.m. – There was a hit and run accident in a parking lot.

8:42 p.m. – Uneasy motorist heading to town from the west claimed the driver behind him had hit a light pole and might be running on a rim. Constables did not encounter the vehicle.

8:59 p.m. – Girlfriend told ESPD she and her boyfriend had a spat in a parking lot and he drove away in her car. Constable responded to the scene.

May 19

2:53 p.m. – Individual claimed her cell phone had been taken out of her vehicle.

8:03 p.m. – Constable retrieved a person from Benton County who was incarcerated on an ESPD warrant.

10:35 p.m. – Front motion alarm was triggered at a business on Main Street. Constable found the building secure.

May 20

2:38 p.m. – Witness told ESPD there was yelling going on between outgoing and incoming tenants. Constables intervened and things settled down.

2:58 p.m. – Person was arrested on an ESPD warrant.

11:47 p.m. – Alarm rang out at a business downtown, but constable found the building secure.

May 21

12:20 a.m. – Traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the driver for speeding, driving on a suspended license and failure to pay registration.

2:09 a.m. – Observer reported suspicious activity at a store downtown. Constables went to the store and found the door open and two males inside. One of them had an outstanding warrant out of Bentonville PD. He was transferred to a constable from Bentonville.

3:45 a.m. – Resident above downtown told ESPD an individual knocked on his door and claimed to need a jump start. Constable responded to the scene.

1:02 p.m. – Person claimed there were people on private property. Constable looked around but did not see anyone.

3:08 p.m. – Individual was arrested on a warrant out of Berryville.

4:30 p.m. – Traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

10:36 p.m. – Disturbance at a residence above downtown prompted a call for a constable. Constable went to the address but did not hear any ruckus. No report necessary.

10:41 p.m. – Constable checked out a noise complaint on Main Street.
