Constables on Patrol

August 15

12:44 p.m. – Constable was called to a residence in the west part of town because a feral hog was near a residence. Constable never saw it.

1:52 p.m. – Observer claimed two males drove up to an ATM and one stumbled out of the vehicle, ran toward the ATM, dropped a package and stumbled back to the car. Constables found nothing suspicious about the package.

August 16

7:50 a.m. – Constable collected an unattended dog near the schools. He located the owner and returned the dog along with a citation for dog at large.

8:15 a.m. – Business owner reported criminal mischief.

11:39 a.m. – Individual reported a theft from his vehicle but soon called back to say he found his stuff.

3:48 p.m. – Concerned observer in the ESH parking lot told ESPD two dogs had been locked in a car with windows up for more than an hour. Constable arrived to find the dogs in the car with air-conditioner running while the owner visited his mother.

4:47 p.m. – On US 62 toward the western edge of town, a dog darted in and out of traffic. It ran into the woods when Animal Control arrived.

6:22 p.m. – Caller told ESPD a child was missing. Constables went to the scene and later found the child in a house down the street.

August 17

8:33 a.m. – Constable responded to a call about a burglary. The location was put on the extra patrol list.

9:17 a.m. – Constable took information about a missing female juvenile.

7:39 p.m. – Resident near downtown reported two males had been sitting in a vehicle parked on the street for the three hours since he arrived home, and the vehicle had no license plate. Constables encountered the vehicle nearby and issued a warning, but everything was okay.

8:27 p.m. – Individual told ESPD several items had been taken from a boat in a motel parking lot.

August 18

7:18 a.m. – Constable went to the location of a 911 hang-up call. Everything was okay.

7:21 a.m. – ESPD learned of a trespasser on property east of downtown. Constable scoured the area and did not encounter the person.

10:09 a.m. – One dog bit another one at the dog park.

1:02 p.m. – A merchant reported a theft from the business.

1:32 p.m. – ESFD responded to a fire alarm call that turned out to be a false alarm.

8:59 p.m. – There was a two-car accident on US 62 with injuries. One vehicle carrying an injured person left the scene.

11:42 p.m. – ESH asked for constable assistance with a dispute between a mother and son. The son was old enough to refuse treatment. Constables spoke with both parties.

August 19

6:32 a.m. – Boyfriend told ESPD his girlfriend had hit him twice during an argument over her dog. Constable determined the offense occurred outside city limits, so he stood by until a deputy arrived.

August 20

11:54 a.m. – Motorist claimed something hit her rear windshield and shattered it as she drove along US 62.

August 21

2:00 p.m. – Folks at a business thought a check had been stolen. Constable helped them determine it had not been stolen.

2:18 p.m. – Constable waited for a reportedly erratic driver who never passed by.

6:01 p.m. – Constable on patrol issued a citation to a vehicle parked in a No Parking zone.

10:55 p.m. – Motorist in the north part of town noticed a vehicle nose first in a ditch. Constable went to the location and found the driver who had been looking for a driveway and found the ditch instead. Constable helped him out.

August 22

12:43 a.m. – Witness saw three dogs cavorting in a parking lot along US 62. Constable eventually encountered one of them and took it to the kennel.
