Constables on Patrol

November 5

10:01 a.m. – Restaurant staff alerted ESPD to drug paraphernalia found on the property. Constable on patrol collected the items.

12:48 p.m. – Constable checked on juveniles who had been involved in a domestic disturbance earlier. He spoke with one of them and learned everyone was okay and there were no injuries.

10:55 p.m. – Constable took a report of criminal mischief.

November 6

2:02 p.m. – Caller was concerned about someone who might be having health problems. Constable performed a welfare check and found the person doing okay. Constable also called the caretaker.

2:33 p.m. – Person causing upheaval at a downtown establishment was gone before the constable arrived.

9:49 p.m. – Another welfare check, and the person was fine.

November 7

4:52 a.m. – Passerby reported someone sleeping outside near a small fire. Constable asked the camper to put out his fire and vacate the premises.

10:17 a.m. – There was an accident in the ESPD parking lot.

11:33 a.m. – Vehicle was on fire alongside US 62 just west of downtown. Constable and ESFD responded.

2:07 p.m. – Realtor reported two individuals sleeping on the porch of a property for sale. They were gone when the constables arrived, but the owner identified them and constables put on extra patrols in that area.

5:24 p.m. – Dog roamed loose and easy in a parking lot. Constable responded, and owner and runaway were reunited.

5:28 p.m. – Parked vehicle on Main Street was having mechanical trouble. Constable got it moved out of the way.

5:41 p.m. – Constable spoke to an individual about a lost cell phone.

6:22 p.m. – Constable went to an address to advise residents about a civil issue.

November 8

7:28 a.m. – Someone reported a domestic confrontation at an apartment complex. Constables learned there had been an argument, but over the phone.

12:28 p.m. – Delivery truck bumped into a wreath downtown. Constable filed a report and called Public Works for the repair.

1:51 p.m. – Observer claimed someone entered a room at the back of a vacant building. Constable checked the building and vicinity.

3:37 p.m. – Another domestic disturbance at a motel. Participants all left the premises.

5:22 p.m. – It was a neighbor against neighbor faceoff on the west side of town. Constable restored order.

5:31 p.m. – There was a traffic hazard on US 62 which vanished before a constable got there.

9:09 p.m. – Intoxicated individual was trespassing on property downtown, and the next thing he knew, he was arrested.

10:13 p.m. – Noise complaint came in about loud music in a neighborhood above downtown, but the constable who responded found the scene serene.

10:59 p.m. – Constable spoke with a semi driver about items missing from her cab, and the items were retrieved without incident.

November 9

5:08 a.m. – Burglary alarm was triggered at a business on US 62, but the constable did not find a reason why. Building was secure.

3:48 p.m. – Constable performed a welfare check in the north part of town and found the person doing well.

4:24 p.m. – Report came in about a reckless driver, but the constable who responded did not encounter the vehicle.

7:30 p.m. – A dog got lost and the constable took it to the kennel where its owner later retrieved it.

November 10

7:48 a.m. – Constables responded to a motel for an agency assist.

4:22 p.m. – Individual filed a fraud report.

10:44 p.m. – Caller asked for a constable to file a theft report, but then changed his mind.

November 11

12:52 a.m. – Constables searched downtown for a male subject who had damaged large stone pots in Basin Park.

1:24 a.m. – A husband reported his wife might have been hit while at a bar. The wife decided not to file a report.

1:37 a.m. – There was a one-vehicle accident with no injuries.

3:32 a.m. – Somebody complained about barking dogs nearby.

7:42 a.m. – Concerned witnesses saw a suspicious person get into a car across the street. Constables learned the person had permission to be in the car but they warned him about sleeping in public.

12:08 p.m. – Resident reported someone stole his vehicle, and constables took the information. The person later called back to report his vehicle had not been stolen after all.

12:10 p.m. – Someone near a vacant house reported the sound of an alarm inside. Constable found the house secure but some kind of alarm inside was beeping because it had a dead battery.

6:10 p.m. – Individual came to the station to fill out a statement.

6:51 p.m. – Constable watched for a reportedly reckless driver on US 62.

7:13 a.m. – Person downtown was harassing others, so the constable on patrol checked it out.

November 12

3:31 a.m. – Constable had to coax two donkeys off US 62 on the west side of town and keep them there until a deputy arrived.

5:29 a.m. – Another call came in about the alarm with the dead battery still beeping.
