Constables On Patrol

October 29

1:03 p.m. – Passerby noticed someone sleeping on a park bench. Constable on patrol asked the sleeper to move along.

2:06 p.m. – Constable initiated a traffic stop on a driver who had fled from him over the weekend. Driver was arrested on outstanding warrants and driving on a suspended license.

3:47 p.m. – Property owner asked for a constable to check one of his buildings that should be vacant but someone might be camping inside. Constables checked out the building.

October 30

9:05 a.m. – Constable went to an address and arrested an individual on a bench warrant for terroristic threatening.

8:55 p.m. – Person told the constable he was having child custody issues with his ex-girlfriend, and wanted information about getting a protection order.

9:35 p.m. – Constables went to a restaurant because of a possible assault and disturbance. Two subjects were transported to ESH.

October 31

12:08 a.m. – Apartment dweller claimed a group of kids were disturbing folks. They were inside when the constable arrived, but he returned later to advise them to keep it quiet.

8:06 a.m. – Resident near downtown told ESPD it appeared someone was in their house. Constables searched the house and found an individual upstairs whom they arrested for criminal trespass.

11:18 a.m. – Merchant downtown reported a theft.

12:10 p.m. – Individual turned himself in on an outstanding warrant for domestic battery.

3:40 p.m. – Constable took another theft report.

4:58 p.m. – Constable filed a report on an assault.

8:32 p.m. – There was an accident on US 62.

November 1

7:35 a.m. – Tow truck driver informed a constable about a one-vehicle accident so he could take a report.

9:48 a.m. – Motel staff came to the station to report thefts and incidents from the previous weekend they just learned about.

11:38 a.m. – Constable on patrol stopped to assist a motorist but discovered the motorist had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges, so the constable arrested him.

12:15 p.m. – Constable performed traffic control because a tree fell on Main Street.

8:22 p.m. – Observer reported a suspicious vehicle along US 62 in the far eastern part of town, but it was already gone when the constable arrived.

10:11 p.m. – Same thing at the western edge of town.

11:55 p.m. – Resident near downtown reported a possible prowler, but the constable who searched did not find one.

November 2

1:32 p.m. – Passing vehicle downtown sideswiped the street sweeper and knocked off the side mirror.

4:01 p.m. – And there was another accident downtown.

November 3

1 a.m. – Guests at a motel causing a disturbance decided to separate for the night.

1:41 a.m. – Constable on patrol noticed a vehicle high-centered on a rock wall in a parking lot. The vehicle was towed.

8:06 a.m. – Staff at a business reported a burglary at the business and theft of a vehicle, and constables checked the scene. The vehicle was later recovered.

2:05 p.m. – There was an accident in a downtown parking lot.

3:22 p.m. – Parked vehicle was blocking traffic flow on a narrow street, so the constable called for a tow truck.

3:46 p.m. – Constable attempted to perform a welfare check but was not able to make contact with the subject.

4:06 p.m. – Another parked vehicle was obstructing a roadway, but somebody moved it before the constable arrived.

5:54 p.m. – Caller told ESPD a reckless driver downtown had caused a confrontation, but the truck already drove away, so the caller decided she did not need a constable.

6:13 p.m. – Constable performed a welfare check on a child.

November 4

12:03 a.m. – There was a domestic issue at a tourist lodging, but no need for a report.

12:06 a.m. – Constable checked on a report of loiterers near some businesses.

2:29 a.m. – Constable went to the west part of town for a welfare check.

9:37 p.m. – Caller complained her ex was coming around when she was gone, so constables put on extra patrols in the area.
