Constables on Patrol

April 23

8:50 a.m. – Caller claimed a parked vehicle was blocking access to his residence. Constable never saw this predicament and learned neighbors had resolved it.

9:27 a.m. – Concerned resident said a van topped by a ladder rack was driving slowly back and forth through the neighborhood. The driver told the constable he was there to meet someone about a piece of property.

4:31 p.m. – A father asked for a constable because of a disturbance with his daughter who was wanted by ESPD. She was gone when constable arrived.

6:11 p.m. – Constables found the wanted daughter and arrested her on warrants out of ESPD and Carroll County.

10:49 p.m. – Individual was arrested for public intoxication.

11:59 p.m. – Constable checked on a 911 hang-up call and found everything was okay.

April 24

5:53 a.m. – Person was sleeping in a vehicle parked behind a business. Constable told him to leave the premises.

3:25 p.m. – Two people were having a disturbance in a restaurant, and constables spoke to them.

3:38 p.m. – Concerned onlooker reported a dog was locked in a vehicle with windows rolled up. Constable determined the dog was okay.

4:40 p.m. – Constable went to a neighborhood because of a 911 hang-up call and found there was no problem.

4:50 p.m. – Alarm was triggered at a place downtown, and the constable found the front door was unlocked though the building was secure.

5:25 p.m. – Constable performed a welfare check, and the person assured him she was okay.

7:35 p.m. – Constable went to an apartment building to warn a trespasser she was not allowed back on the property.

10:36 p.m. – Again at a nearby location there was a trespasser whom the constables did not encounter.

April 25

7:55 a.m. – Resident complained of a nearby dog howling and barking. Animal Control did not hear any barking but told complainant he would perform extra patrols in the area.

9:40 a.m. – Individual wanted on ESPD charges was about to be released from Washington County jail. She was transported to CCSO for holding.

1:40 p.m. – Counselor asked for a constable for a mandated reporting incident regarding a juvenile.

1:45 p.m. – Innkeepers told ESPD a person had been harassing them after an interview for a job had not gone well.

3:10 p.m. – Truck got stuck at a precarious intersection. Constable called for a tow truck to extricate it.

3:28 p.m. – For some reason an alarm was triggered at a business on US 62. Constable found the building secure.

3:52 p.m. – There was a theft at a tourist lodging, and constables put the area on extra patrol.

4:02 p.m. – Constable went to a location to check on a 911 hang-up call, but did not encounter anyone in the area.

4:37 p.m. – Constable determined a situation between a landlord and tenant was a civil issue.

7:15 p.m. – Call came in about an auto accident downtown. Constable did not see any damage so no report was filed.

9:06 p.m. – Another 911 hang-up call, this one from a disconnected cell phone. Constable found nothing to report.

11:44 p.m. – Gas station attendant called in a suspicious person on the premises who was gone when constable arrived.

April 26

2:24 p.m. – High school staff asked for a constable to stand by because a student was refusing to leave with her mother. Constable complied.

4:15 p.m. – ESPD was alerted to a runaway juvenile being followed by her mother. Constables encountered the runaway and escorted her to ESH.

7:30 p.m. – There was a minor traffic accident in a parking lot.

8 p.m. – Constable was called to ESH because a juvenile refused to leave with her mother. After speaking with everyone involved, the constable detained the juvenile and transported her to CCSO.

April 27

3:41 a.m. – Constables watched for a possibly inebriated driver on her way to Bentonville.

6:46 a.m. – Vehicle was blocking a lane of traffic on a road in northeast part of town. Owner returned with more fuel and everything was good.

10:58 a.m. – Animal Control checked for a wandering dog near the schools and attempted to find its owner.

4:04 p.m. – Caller claimed a vehicle was blocking a neighborhood street. Constable found the roadway was clear.

8:10 p.m. – There was a disturbance at a gas station, but constable discovered things had calmed down when one participant left the scene.

8:29 p.m. – The disturbance this time was among guests at a motel. Constables assisted the guests in finding a new motel.

11:30 p.m. – Constables watched at the eastern city limits for an allegedly reckless driver headed to town from the east. They never saw the vehicle.

April 28

5 p.m. – Report came in of a female yelling for help near the train depot. Constable searched the area but did not encounter anything extraordinary.

6:54 p.m. – Someone asked for a welfare check on a family member, but the constable found the person doing just fine.

9:23 p.m. – Noise complaint came in about music at a bar, but the constable found the music was within legal limits.

11:23 p.m. – There was an argument at a restaurant, and constable responded.

April 29

7:40 a.m. – Next disturbance was at a tourist lodging, and the constable escorted a person off the premises.

8:10 a.m. – Central dispatch reported an alarm at a business, and constable watched the building until the key holder arrived.

9:41 a.m. – There was a panhandler in front of a business, and constable expounded on related city ordinances.

9:59 a.m. – There was an accident downtown and the constable filed a report.

10:51 a.m. – Animal Control picked up a wandering canine and took it to the kennel.

1:28 p.m. – Individual was arrested for criminal trespassing.

5:56 p.m. – Juvenile came to the station to report a protection order violation.

9:20 p.m. – Domestic disturbance at a gas station resulted in the arrest of one person for Washington County and CCSO warrants for failure to appear.
