The Cate Brothers are so well known around these parts, twins Earl and Ernie forging a long career that began in the glorious ‘70s. Still sharing music today, they have released nine albums over the years, including one with Jimmy Thackery in 2006. With Earl on guitar and Ernie on keyboards, they both sing and have evolved from Everly Brothers-styled harmonies to the blend of blues, rock, soul and country. Bet David Renko will be blowing some sax. Cates are featured artists at this month’s Holiday Island Summer Concert Series and will play at Veterans Memorial Park Amphitheater at 7 p.m. on Saturday. It will only cost you a five spot if you’re older than 12, free if you’re not. It is BYOB, so fill a cooler, bring a lawn chair or blanket and stake out a spot to hear the Cate’s unique style of rock and soul. Sunfest is cooking burgers and ‘dogs, pizza by the slice available.
