Cassady Gene Bloch July 7, 1993 – April 22, 2022

Cassady Gene Bloch left this realm at age 28, on April 22, 2022, in Tucson, Arizona—where he resided for several months preceding his death—after a head injury (cause of death is pending full autopsy).

Cassady was born in a small cabin in the woods in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on July 7th, 1993. He grew up playing in the creeks, swimming in the lakes, and exploring the trails and woods. Graduating with the Eureka Springs High School class of 2011, he went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a double major in Spanish and Economics and a minor in Business. Getting a jumpstart in the restaurant business at age eight, helping out at his parent’s business, Autumn Breeze Restaurant, one summer in order to raise enough money to get a puppy from the Humane Society, Cassady later worked in front-of-the-house service and assistant management in several fine dining restaurants in Northwest Arkansas and Tucson, and had a broad knowledge of wine.

Cassady had an adventurous spirit and boldly explored nature, intriguing places, people, cuisines, and books. He enjoyed cooking with family and friends and experimenting with combining flavors and spices. Cassady started kicking a soccer ball as soon as he could walk and spent endless hours in his childhood and teen years practicing and playing soccer with various teams across NW Arkansas and relished the game, teamwork, and his mastery of ball control.

A deep appreciation for travel was fostered in his childhood and Cassady visited at least a dozen European countries (via four different trips between the ages of eighteen and twenty-three, including a college semester in Spain), nine Caribbean Islands, several states, Mexico, and three Central American countries, including a recent six-month stay in Nicaragua.

Cassady loved, and was loved, deeply. He lives on in so many hearts and memories while he’s, perhaps, body surfing the waves of eternity.

“Ah… child of countless trees. Ah… child of boundless seas.” (From the song “Cassidy” by John Barlow)

Cassady is survived by his mother, Harrie Farrow; son, Nico Floyd Bloch; girlfriend, Stephanie Hageman; cousin, Nicole Bloch; second cousin, Karl Bloch, third cousins, Gabi and Sara Bloch; grandfather, Tony Bloch, grandmothers, Jarka Bloch and Edita Blochova, as well as several aunts, uncles, other cousins, and quite notably, a wonderfully close-knit dear group of lifelong friends.

Cassady was proceeded in death by his father, Richard Bloch, cousin Dillon Reddick, and grandmother, Jackie Farrow.

There will be a memorial service later this month. For details, check Harrie Farrow’s Facebook page in the coming week.
