As soon as the Thanksgiving dishes go into the dishwasher, some people head off to fight the crowds for questionable bargains. After a successful debut last year, the Second Annual Fall Fundraiser Art Show and Sale will give shoppers a great alternative. Local artists offer a nice selection of their works, affordably priced for gift-giving.

“Meet Your Maker” gives shoppers the chance to visit with a cross-section of local artists, including Valerie Hubbard Damon, Ruth Mitchell, SheYodi, Darla Grey-Winter, Maggie Ausmus, Sophie Ausmus and Edwidge Denyszyn. Other vendors include Julie Kahn Valentine, Kelli Overgard, Danny Overgard, Regina Smith, Natalie Mannering, Fiona Lavin, Christie Wagner, Lizzie Dalton and Lisa Cruz.

Artists will feature glass art, sculptures, pottery, paintings, fiber arts, jewelry and more. Shoppers will find creatures, ornaments. mobiles, candles, woodworking, fantasy gifts and musical instruments.

In keeping with Main Stage’s mission of encouraging young artists, their work will be on sale in one area.

“We’re increasing our ‘Wow!’ factor this year, with additional displays in the windows and on the walls,” Valerie said. “The poles framing the entryway will be decorated, and a tree in the lobby will display ornaments made by the artists, including Valerie’s Bipolar Vertebrae. Main Stage teenagers will hand out maps in Basin Park to encourage tourists who might not otherwise discover the show. More information is available at catyod@gmail.com.

The sale is at Main Stage Creative Community Center, at 67 N. Main St., the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29-30. Hours on both days will be from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., with a reception both afternoons from 3 – 6 p.m. Receptions will include light refreshments and music by young performers.

Thirty percent of all proceeds will be donated to Main Stage, which helps support youth and adult theater, as well as providing resources to local artists.
