Police called to threat at high school

Eureka Springs Police were alerted to a verbal threat at the high school Friday morning, according to ESPD Chief Thomas Achord. “A juvenile made threats and the administration notified us right away,” Achord said. “We don’t take threats lightly and immediately dispatched an officer and a detective.”

Achord said a male juvenile is currently in the custody of his mother and Carroll County juvenile authorities.

“There never was a weapon and no one was in imminent danger. The principal was there the whole time. Rumors are flying that there was a list with sixty-six names of people the student was going to hurt. There was no list, and again, no weapon, and we are confident the student is in the proper hands now.”
