Events Coordinator Andy Green announced at the April 11 City Advertising and Promotion Commission meeting there is a new program partnership between the Walton Family Foundation and Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) called Artists 360. The three-year pilot program will provide $429,500 for projects by individual artists in the northwest Arkansas counties of Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Sebastian and Washington.
Green said artists can apply for funding May 1 – July 16. Application information is listed on the M-AAA site. The first group of recipients will be announced in autumn, and the awards will be given out in January.
Green said the program is “very open – the project could be almost anything.” The M-AAA site says practicing artists will be eligible for grants of up to $7500, and $1500 grants will be available for student artists. Twenty artists will be selected each year for three years, and “the funds are meant to go directly to the hands of the artists,” Green stated.
He added that the CAPC would host a workshop in which interested artists can ask questions of M-AAA representatives.
