A gift toward sustainability

Editor,

Sometimes the only words that make any sense are “Thank You.” With these words, spoken on behalf of the Eureka Springs Community Center Foundation Board, Diane Murphy gratefully acknowledged the gracious gift of the home at 1 Planer Point in Eureka Springs.  The donors have been supporters of the Community Center from the beginning, providing a previous donation that allowed for renovation of the gym lobby.

When the house sells, its proceeds will be specifically earmarked as seed money for the continued renovation of Building 200 as income producing office rental space. The benefactors were keenly aware that the CC project required a continuous revenue source to maintain operational status.

The Community Center receives no tax dollars and operates as a 501C3 not-for-profit entity. It is reliant on memberships, donations, grants, and user fees for all expenses. Once completed, the leased office space will provide an operational revenue stream, so donated and granted money can go toward improvements and programs.

Such forward thinking generosity deserves Eureka’s sincerest appreciation and gratitude, but Thank You will have to do for now.
